Welcome to Scroll & Cross ("the app", "we", "our"). By using this app, you agree to the following terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Scroll & Cross, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

Scroll & Cross is a free Bible study application that provides access to Bible translations, verse-by-verse commentary, cross-references, interactive maps, timelines, devotionals, sermons, and quizzes. The app is available as a web application and as native mobile apps for Android and iOS.

3. Bible Translation Licenses

Bible translations displayed in the app are used under license or in the public domain:

• KJV and ASV: Public domain.
• ESV: Used under license from Crossway. ESV text may not be quoted in any publication made available to the public by a Creative Commons license. Copyright © 2001 by Crossway.
• CSB, GNT, NASB: Provided via API.Bible under their Terms of Service.

You may not extract, copy, or redistribute licensed Bible text from this app.

4. User Accounts

Creating an account is optional. If you sign in:

• You are responsible for the security of your account.
• You must provide a valid email address.
• You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us — see Data Deletion below.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our servers or databases.
• Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract content from the app.
• Redistribute licensed Bible translations obtained through the app.
• Use any content from the app to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

6. Intellectual Property

Commentary, annotations, maps, quiz content, and app design are the intellectual property of Scroll & Cross. Cross-references are derived from the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge (public domain, via OpenBible.info under CC-BY). Spurgeon's works are in the public domain.

7. Donations

Scroll & Cross is free. Donations are voluntary and processed by Stripe. Donations are non-refundable and do not grant any additional rights or features. No portion of the app is paywalled based on donation status.

8. Disclaimers

• The app is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.
• Commentary and annotations are for educational purposes and should not be taken as authoritative theological doctrine.
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to online features (ESV, CSB, GNT, NASB translations, audio, sync).
• Offline features (KJV, ASV, commentary, cross-references, maps, timeline, quiz) work without internet once cached.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scroll & Cross shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

10. Data Deletion

You may request deletion of all your data at any time by emailing support@scrollandcross.com from the address you signed in with. The app does not currently offer a self-service "Delete Account" control, so every request is handled by email.

Upon deletion, all bookmarks, notes, highlights, listening history, and account information will be permanently removed from our servers.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
